He chuckled at Roxy as he released her hand after successfully getting her to her feet. Wrapping an arm around her waist for support he smirked, "Fine. We are way more than BFFs. There might be some more... flushed feelings running around."

He could't help but smile a little as she spoke to Dave, but when she asked about why she hadn't heard of him, Dirk's expression faltered slightly and he glanced away. He couldn't count the times that he and Roxy had been drunk off their asses over an online chat. Laying on his bed, headphones shoved crooked over his ears, he would turn to his computer screen as if it were her and poured out these terribly pathetic ramblings concerning his parents' divorce and the brother he was forced to leave behind. Ah well, he should have known. Roxy's ability to be anything short of half-way-there while she was drunk was well... shot.

"When my," he shook his head, "our parents were divorced, Dave stayed with mom. I couldn't find him or contact him or anything, so this is the first time we've met, too."

He glanced back to Dave, giving him a reassuring smile. He couldn't wait to journey with him. Then again, Dave probably wanted to be with his friends and it was true that Dirk would rather travel with his. Jake and Jane would probably be there soon and Dirk wanted nothing more than to spend the next few months laughing and traveling with the group of people he had only met online. Just when he was about to bring it up, yet another voice familiar to him called out behind him and he turned. Speak of the devil!

"Jane!" He shouted, giving her a small wave, "I know, isn't it great?"

She was adorable up close and personal. Actually, she wasn't a far cry from what he had expected. Although, she was a might bit shorter than he had imagined. She was still really cute and her smile reminded him of what he always thought a mother should look like, kind and inviting. Jane had always been his idea of a perfect little wife-- not that he had any feelings for her, she just fit the mold, and seeing her up close, it was a stronger impression. She even LOOKED like the perfect little wife, knock-kneed and grinning, excitement written all over her face. He would have hugged if if he weren't still clinging to Roxy, keeping her on her feet.

A gentle smile spread over his expression as he glanced down to her Cyndaquil. Good! Dash would have another fire type to play with. Oh shit, speaking of Dash, he hadn't let him out since the bus station! Poor thing!

Placing his glasses back on his nose so he could have a free hand, he rummaged into his shirt and pulled out the Pokeball that hung from his neck on a silver chain. He pulled on the releasable clip and pointed the ball toward an open patch of grass and tossed it. Out of the ball emerged a tiny Ponyta that nickered and flared its nostrils at Dirk. He grinned back and shook his head, "Sorry, Dash, shit got a little hectic. Run around, stretch your legs, we'll be leaving soon. You wanna walk with me?"

Dash picked up his Pokeball in his teeth and returned it to Dirk before nuzzling against his hand. Running his fingers through the flame of his mane before taking the ball, Dirk patted his head and Dash trotted off a few cantering steps before glancing back at the Cyndaquil and canting his head. Dirk smiled and watching him go before looking back up to Roxy, Jane and Dave. He was about to change the subject when his heart leaped into his chest.

That accent. A hand on his shoulder, the face out of the corner of his eye. Oh god. Oh fuck. Jake! Turning toward him, he couldn't help the broad smile that flashed across his face. Man, he was even worse in person. Why were all of his friends really attractive? His hair was so perfect and the way his glasses framed his face and emerald eyes gave off the complete opposite effect of the other two here that fit the same black-hair-glasses mold. While it made Jane and Dave's friend look cute, it just made Jake look breathtakingly sexy. Fuck, bad thoughts. But no, seriously! Even the little gap between his two front teeth was really charming. Hnngh. This was going to be harder to hide than he had previously calculated. The probability of him fucking up before they were in Pewter City was simultaneously bananas and through the roof.

Trying to suppress his instinctive actions-- blushing, immediately hugging the shit out of him, perhaps maybe an impromptu make out session-- NO, he simply gave him a pat on the arm and jerked his head toward Dave, "Haha, well, there's only one of me. God forbid there ever be another. The world simply wouldn't be able to handle the sheer amount of awesome that the possibility of two Dirk Striders would provide. That'd be the end of the world."

He smirked a little and shook his head, " No, this is Dave, he's my twin. Him and mom live... where, Dave?"

See? There. Calm and cool. Nobody has to expect a thing...

Hmm, well, John was done talking.
So maybe this would be a good time to, you know, just pop right back in and add something useful to the conversation.
Kanaya looked over, planning on saying something very profound and worthy of conversation (such as: "you are looking rather flustered Rose what would be the matter," and perhaps even: "fine weather we're having, isn't it?"), but, uh.
Well, Rose just didn't look as if she was up for that kind of thinking presently. In fact, she had turned without another word into the registration's office. Which was kind of rude, Kanaya would admit under pressure, but she was completely sure that she'd had her reasons. And in any case, who was she to tell Rose how to live her life?
She wasn't her moirail or anything, thanks. She had that quadrant all sorted out.
Begrudgingly. Lovingly. Oddly. Carefully and wonderfully and terribly and awkwardly.
They honestly didn't help each other much.

Besides, she was used to people just leaving out of nowhere, anyway. It happened. Only thing for it was to get on with with and keep yourself spirited with the knowledge that everything our be alright in the end.
Such was life, after all, and she had no qualms with it.

That said, people were making a grand show of coming and going and going and coming -- introducing themselves, fighting, entering the registration's building (why hadn't she waited and found a group to enter in? now she was alone and awkward and goodness this wasn't working out the way she'd intended!). Kanaya honestly couldn't figure a reason to interrupt any of them (two human boys having a reunion of sorts, a drunkard stumbling in, John and Eridan and Vriska fighting over something trivial; and oh, look -- there was Feferi, punctual as usual), so she stood off to the side, by herself -- watching and waiting and observing.
The best way to understand those around you, of course, was to simply watch. And while that might not be the number one thing she'd like to be doing with her life at present, it sure beat idling around without a purpose.
As long as she put a name to it -- people watching -- she was useful, she was alive, she was worthy of her wasted oxygen.
Or something like that. Whatever. Didn't suit to trouble oneself on needless details -- on depressing thoughts and such. Her life was beautiful.

Kanaya leaned against the wall in a manner that seemed kind of orchestrated; backs of her shoulders touching it, but not her legs, not anything that might give it away. She was tired, but it would do little good to showcase it for the world to see.
There was a muffled little cry, and she sighed on reflex.
Right. Muli.

The little brat had been impossible the entire boat ride over. Crying. Getting herself in trouble. Floating over to her with a face of pure fear after angering someone. Forcing her to apologize over a theft. Ad nausem.
It had been horrible, and it had been all Kanaya could do to keep her within her sight -- no easy feat, what with her tricky nature. What's that Kanaya? That little puff on the wind, did you see that? Syke! Sorry, mama, this bird's--
Nope. Right back into her hands with a scolding speech. Ten times over.
And sometimes she hadn't been able to catch her.

All things considered, Kanaya had been incredibly relieved when she'd stepped foot on the dock and, after checking her pack to make sure the little scamp was there, realized she was fast asleep. A small shred of her had hoped that she wouldn't wake up.
You know. For a day or so. She wasn't morbid.

But no, now she was up -- up and crying; oh, how unexpected. What next, Muli? Were you going to try to pilfer something from someone dangerous? Like, say, that boy over there? Or Vriska? Or the idiots running the registration desk?
Oh god, that would be horrible. She never wanted to deal with those assholes again, thanks.
Kanaya found herself reaching into her messenger bag and pushing down Muli's head (which was, coincidentally, also her body) with force.
Which made her cry louder.
Oh, Muli, she could kill you.

With an exasperated sigh, Kanaya pulled her out, placing her on her shoulder. The Cottonee seemed placated for the moment -- which was a surprise, really -- and nuzzled against her lovingly.
Okay, okay.
Kanaya couldn't help but press her cheek against her -- so soft! -- and say, "Yes, yes, morning, Muli."
There was a little noise that almost resembled an indication of pleasure, and Muli shut her eyes again.

Yeah, right, Muli.
Oldest trick in the book.
She wasn't going to let you out of her sight for a moment, you rascal. Don't think that you could pull the wool over her eyes like that.
...Again.

Kanaya resolved to just make herself fully aware of her (light) weight at all times, and then went back to surveying the lot.
Oh, they were all... grouping up.
Well, wasn't that awkward.
Usually, in a team, you had to have some kind of special talent to be admitted. And, debatedly, she had nothing to offer a group of pokemon trainers, you know, as a coordinator.
Useless, useless, useless.

She didn't even want to ask anyone to admit her. If they did, it would have been out of pity (and not the romantic kind, either), and she honestly didn't want to deal with it. She knew when she was a burden.

Face it, Kanaya darling, you had nothing for them. It was you and Muli, roughing it alone. Facing dangers and hotel prices in perfect solitude.
Ugh.
Whatever. She'd clear out when the rest of them did.

She slumped against the wall.

Jade watched the Striders bond with a light, but confused, smile. She really wanted to know what just happened, but she felt as though walking up and asking out of no-where would be a bit rude, even if she did prefer being in the know. So, with all immediate converations over, she decided to slip away to register as a trainer. Bec first loyally walked along behind her, but then she thought it would be easier for him to be in his pokeball while she registered. He whined when she readied his pokeball.
"oh hush! i know you prefer to walk around but it will only be for a moment," she assured. Bec was returned, then she went to register.

Jade was happy, to say the least. She had just officially registered as a trainer! The event, as monotonous as the official process was, was so exiting for her. She was bound to go on grand adventures, just like her Grandpa, allongisde all of her internet friends. Though, her internet friends are now technically real-life friends but she figured she shouldn't sweat the details when there are much more grand things about! And, oh! She nearly forgot to let Becquerel out of his pokeball! He was sure to be exited as she was! She let her Growlithe back out of his pokeball.
"hey bec! i'm an official trainer now, isn't that cool?" She told him, scratching him behind his ear. He happily barked in response and wagged his puffball tail, and Jade couldn't help but giggle.

She looked around at everyone else to see what she had missed. Nothing much, she mused, for it seemed as though everyone was acting much like how they do online. Though, there were quite a few people she couldn't recognize right away, but she figured it out by astute educated guesses. It wasn't very hard to piece together who was who. But, she did happen to notice that Kanaya seemed to be a little less than happy while slumped against the wall. That was no good at all! It was a day of exitement and adventure with friends all around! There should be no reason to be by oneself, looking a bit glum. So she walked up to Kanaya, Bec following her as always.
"hey, is something wrong?" She asked, "you don't look too happy or exited, even though there sure is a lot to be exited about! after all, you did just finish registering right?" She smiled a bit.

Oh, this was probably Feferi! Eridan’s monorail or whatever they called it. They’d spoken a few times over the internet, and she always seemed nice. Probably one of the sanest trolls he’d met, too! A lot of them were pretty mental. “Feferi, right? it's nice to meet you in person! And nah, he’s been okay,” John grinned. Eridan had been pretty nice, surprisingly enough, giving him advice on Casey and even feeding her berries. Casey certainly seemed to be enjoying the attention, too. Maybe he had a soft spot for Pokémon, even if he acted like a huge jerk to Vriska. Vriska acted pretty mean to him too, he figured he just had a lot to learn about troll relationships.

“You haven’t seen Cutthroat Island!? It is the best, and has this kickass lady-pirate called Morgan Adams who is one a quest to get the gold hidden on Cutthroat Island before her evil uncle, Dawg.” Seriously, it was so great. Not one of John’s favourite-favourites, but still great. Oh, he should probably thank Eridan for the advice as well as just lecturing him about pirate movies which also happened to be huge box office flops. “Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind!” he chirped, although he privately thought no way he was going to be breeding his darling Casey. Oh no, no, no. She was far too precious to be corrupted by any of that Pokémon mating, gross. Besides, why would he want a bunch more baby Charmanders? It sounded cute, but he’d rather have lots of different Pokémon.

And oh wow, Vriska had just agreed to travel with him. That was nice. Karkat would probably object, but John was not particularly concerned with this. Karkat complained about everything, after all. Hell, he’d even said he didn’t want to travel with him! (John was convinced this was a lie.) Hopefully, they’d be setting off soon; John was itching to start the adventure. “Okay, great! Maybe she and Casey will be friends. When Casey isn’t totally beating her up in battle I mean.” He nudged Vriska playfully. With a bit of luck, they’d become better friends, too.

“Maybe, or they might become kismesises,” Vriska said. “But I doubt that, I don’t think Spinneret is capable of hating anyone. She’s pretty lame in that regard.” She sighed, looking down at her pokémon. She didn’t even know why she was revealing this; one of her rules was ‘never let a possible opponent know your weaknesses.’ She supposed he would find out sooner or later anyway, but still mentally slapped herself over it.

She looked around for a moment, and noticed Kanaya looking rather upset. Even though a human (She was pretty sure it was Jade) seemed to be talking to her, she couldn’t see her moirail like that and not do a thing about it. Vriska might not have been the best at the whole moirallegiance thing, but she didn’t think she was complete shit, either. She grabbed Spinneret, waved bye to John with a quick “I’ll see you later!” (Which she was pretty excited about, she couldn't wait to travel) and headed over to the two.

She plopped herself down right next to the jade-blooded troll, punching her arm softly, completely ignoring Jade. “Fussyfangs, you look pretty upset, and as your moirail I can’t let that happen. So stop moping about and tell me what’s wrong!” She said, failing miserably at showing concern. She really had no idea how to cheer people up, either, but was pretty sure listening was a good way to start.

She feels sorry for herself for ten seconds and pulls a slump up against a wall, and suddenly the most cheery human from the lot of them had seen her, and, look! -- was trying to cheer her up.
Of course. She should have known better. Now she was being coddled -- now she'd have to explain away her feelings (because, first off, Jade wasn't her moirail and thus this honestly wasn't her problem -- and second off, even if she had been, this kind of sort of wasn't a big deal. And also Kanaya was acting like a stupid wriggler and goddamn did she regret slipping and letting her slight anxiety show).

She wasn't angry, no, not at all. Not really. Not even irritated.
Just a little disappointed with herself, to be honest. She had known better, and yet look at her!
Now she looked supremely pathetic -- so bad that some unrelated girl had come to her rescue, and now Vriska had broken away from her friend (or something, the details as to what John was to her were sort of lost on Kanaya -- not because she didn't catch the hints, but rather, well... -- whatever, she didn't like to think about it, to be honest) to likely talk about this. And she didn't want to talk about it and ugh.
Just ugh.

And now her arm was likely hurt or something but whatever that was really fine. Vriska was a strong troll, and supposedly knew her own strength -- but she doubted it sometimes.

"Excited is not likely the first word that would come to mind if I was attempting to describe my feelings for my current state.

"Apprehensive is much more fitting if you were to ask me. Which I guess you were so no harm done.[/color]"

She straightened out considerably, taking her back off of the wall and stretching out slightly.
"Not that I'm really bothered I mean no harm done and such. Life goes on and we'll make it out fine. I'm really okay, Vriska -- I'm just a little tired and I was leaning against a wall because my back hurts. I'm not moping what would even give you such an idea.[/color]"
It wasn't a complete lie, now that she thought of it -- she was downright exhausted. And now Muli was bouncing around, trying to meet the two of them in her own way (which would, without a doubt, lead to her pilfering some item or another off the two of them, so it would be for the best to keep her contained). Kanaya picked her up off of her shoulder and held her up to her chest, not really to showcase her but rather to just make sure that she didn't run off or something like that.

Alright, they both knew that she was fine and that nothing was bothering her. Or at least, if they had sense they would.
That said, hm. She'd never really met Jade before, to be honest (Vriska, she'd known for quite a while), seeing as she was one of her internet friends and such. And now look at her! Making a lousy first impression.

God, she had to get over herself.

Kanaya adjusted Muli into the crook of her arm (who squirmed with indignation, but Kanaya honestly didn't care), and extended her other hand in what she believed to be a general human gesture of greeting.
"Well met and such by the way, Jade. I'm right in that you are in fact Jade, correct?[/color]"

Humans, ugh.
Erm.
She was about to think something really kind of racist right then, but then wisely shot that down.

"I am chock fucking full of good ideas," he replied dismissively, his hand hovering over the pokeball clipped to his pocket. He considered letting his pokemon out, too, but that would garner so much attention and moronic teasing that he judged against it. Will Smith's time would come eventually, but until then, Karkat was still mind-numbingly eager to leave town once and for all. Instead, the troll boy stayed close to the counters and filled out the registration forms, glowering at Terezi's equally uppity pokemon from time to time-- glaring was what he did when he was in deep thought, after all, and his thoughts were very solemn, elicited by this crazy pang of desperation he had.

At some point, he was standing next to her, and not even turning in her direction, began to speak to her with a contrived casualness. "Putting it out there--I would allow you to come with me when you finally work up the mental synapses to reason that Dave is one of the most aggravating humans to ever exist, which is saying something. I refuse to let the other candidate for Most Irritating tag along, either. I've done some calculations and I've determined that John's intelligence and proportionally his usefulness are in the negative integers, especially when I account for the fact that he's also been determined to make my life more difficult since the day I had the misfortune of meeting him." He took a deep breath-- Karkat was accustomed to drawn out tirades and ornery explanations, which everyone else would have to get used to in the real world as they did online. "You're the same way in that you take this sick pleasure in making me miserable, but I will offer you the modest position of being second-in-command in my traveling group. Which is pretty fucking generous if you ask me." With that, he crossed his arms over his chest and stared at her expectantly. Terezi was a bit of a contingency plan, so he wasn't banking on her saying yes to his extremely well-put proposal. In fact, Karkat was certain she was going to insult him, and then say no, and the "fuck you" was practically already on his lips. But he'd been running out of options, unsurprisingly, so he felt the need to take a risk and ask. He wasn't so much of a blubbering loser to be afraid of outright rejection, either.

Eridan wasn't exactly sure why he hadn't been fully expecting himself to be late. Of course he'd miss the alarm and of course no one would think to wake him up, but most obviously of course it had to happen on the most important day ever.
It was only when he was hurtling through Pallet Town in the most undignified manner ever and the sun was still high in the sky that he realised he wasn't actually so very late after all, and upon realising he was now fully within the sights of a group of dawdling new trainers Eridan made a very sudden shift from a mad sprint to a casual stroll (he almost fell over, but if ever there was a faster recovery Eridan would eat his hat).

Keeping his eyes focused straight ahead, he dutifully ignored every single person gathered as he walked straight down the middle. He was vaguely aware he was probably attracting more attention by not saying anything, but right now he decided making a beeline for the lab was probably the best option.

The door banged shut behind him and there was seemingly no activity for several minutes, but eventually the sea-troll emerged with a quietly victorious attitude and a red and white ball clutched tightly in his right hand. Apparently he'd forgotten that there would be an audience waiting for him, because upon realising everyone was still there his posture drew inwards a little, the thin line of his mouth rearranging itself into a challenging scowl, as though he expected to be met with a confrontation and intended to be goddamn ready for it.

"Hey," he ventured uneasily, shoving the wrong hand in his pocket and having to make a general waving gesture with the other - which, given that this hand was already holding a Pokeball, looked a little comical. Eridan was not a master of first impressions.

With Vriska and Jade both going to see Kanaya, John wasn’t all that sure what to do. He would have liked to go over too; Kanaya always seemed like a great person on the internet, and he hadn’t had much chance to speak to Jade yet, and they were great friends. Still, it would probably look as if he was just trailing after Vriska and, honestly, getting teased about that was the last thing he needed!

He could always go hang out with Dave. Jane was standing about near him, and they hadn’t even said hello yet! That was definitely not being a great cousin. Jake was with them too (he assumed it was Jake, anyway) and he was a pretty great guy. They’d had plenty of fun discussions about movies and such. But yeah, they all seemed kind of busy! He didn’t want to interrupt or anything.

But oh look, somebody else had just emerged from the office. John was nearly certain it was Eridan, since it was obviously a sea-dweller troll, and it wasn’t as if he knew any others. Apart from Feferi, obviously, but she was a girl and was also standing right next to him, so it clearly wasn’t her. He didn’t look to be in the best mood, but overly enthusiastic and friendly as ever, John waved a wild greeting to him, gesturing him over towards him and Feferi. He didn’t know the guy particularly well but hey, showing a bit of warmth never hurt anyone. Besides, they all shared the camaraderie that came with being budding trainers, at least in John’s opinion.

“There’s no reason for you to feel like that, adventures are exciting!” Vriska said, trying to get the other troll to cheer up a little. “But you were definitely moping about something. Your lying is almost as bad as your sarcasm- although, nothing else can really be that terrible,” She added, rolling her eyes. She paused for a moment, before continuing, “I was just trying to do that meddle-y friend thing you’re so good at for once, but you’re not making it easy. So I guess won’t even try, if that’s what you reeeeeeeeally want; or you could make it easier and tell me what’s wrong.”

It wasn’t that she’d particularly wanted to do the meddlesome friend thing in the first place, she knew listening and giving advice and everything else that came with that title were not her strong points; and she didn’t really care to improve on them either – it didn’t seem like an incredibly important skill to her, she’d rather be the greatest trainer than have hoards of friends coming to her with their problems – but she didn’t want to go down in history as the worst moirail of all time, either.

Besides, She thought Kanaya was actually a good moirail – not that Vriska would ever admit that to her, it would be sappy and lame – so the least she could do was attempt to return the favor, right?

There were a few empty moments while Eridan considered the fact that most everyone had clumped together into little groups, and the sea dwelling troll surreptitiously scanned the area with a combination of quick glances and faux-disinterest.

Movement caught his eye and he glanced over to the human waving at him, adjusting his glasses with thumb and forefinger. Was that who he thought it was...? Eridan's hand tightened around the Pokeball, and he strode forwards with a carefully-assembled confident look on his face.

"Hey." He nodded to John as he drew to a halt beside him, and studied the kid with a scrutinising once-over, and then his posture seemed to relax. After a moment's hesitation, Eridan begrudgingly held out his hand in a way that suggested he didn't really want to initiate contact; but if he didn't, he got the feeling he'd upset Feferi. It was her, he'd quickly realised, and he nodded appreciatively in her direction.

"Good seein' you again, Fef." His tone was about as casual as he could make it, but the look on his face was one of pleasant surprise. Eridan had kind of figured he'd miss her altogether, but this served as yet another reminder that he wasn't actually as late as he'd thought. Although, there was the matter of her talking to this human. "You twwo knoww each other?"

Sollux had quickly decided that, after obtaining the registration form, and seeing how awfully long it was (even after Aradia had warned him, he thought she might have just been exaggerating a little) that he would rush through it. This, of course, wasn’t the best route to go, especially being how important this form was, but that didn’t bother him.
Without a doubt, he was just going to skim most of the form, quickly right down what he needed to, and hand it in.
After a few minutes flew by, he had finally finished the form. Despite his quick and easy strategy, about half way through he had then decided to take his time answering said questions. That was likely of him, and it didn’t really bother him as he didn’t plan to do said thing, it just sort of…happened.
“Okay, whatever, done with this,” he turned it in hastily.
“Sorry I took so long there AA, ugh, you were right. That test was way too long,” he gave a rather weak apology to Aradia, just happy to be done and over with the stupidly long registration form.

Feferi smiled along with Nepeta, a hand going up to cover her mouth. "What can I say? Puns are fin when you make them with your fronds!

[/color]" She only looked up when a movement blurred in the corner of her vision, and she realized that John was waving someone over. She looked up with him.

Oh, she'd recognize that silly scarf anywhere! Her arm waved wildly at him. "Hey, Eridan! About time you showed up, you little seaslug![/color]" She teased. She leaned back against her Wailmer, who made a noise of protest. She had been told not to keep Nomia out of water for too long because she could dry up and die, but keeping her out of all this fun seemed too cruel!
But dying was much worse than missing out on a big meeting, so she resolved to put her Pokemon away, losing her backrest for the time being.

Pity. She couldn't help but pout a little bit--she hadn't rested herself in quite some time now! She hoped that she'd at least get to take a quick nap before they set out on their LIF-E C)(ANGING JOURN--EY!
Or whatever this was supposed to be. She was really hoping that it would be as fun as it was all cracked up to be.

There was a touch of disdain in Eridan's voice, or at least she thought so, and her face deflated a bit. "Uh, yeah! I kinda know him. I mean, we're meeting face to face for the first time today![/color]" She said, motioning towards John. "And me and Nepeta are too! Haven't you spoken to Nepeta before, Eridan?[/color]" Feferi continued, and her gaze trailed to the cat-esque troll besides her.

She had never really imagined that she, herself, would actually be able to go on this journey, or meet all these people in person. But here she was, bedazzled Pokeball in her hand and messenger bag swung over her shoulder, staring down people she had only talked to online. Sans Eridan, naturally, but he had lived close enough to her to make it easy for her to visit him. Feferi would be lying if she said that she didn't envy the huge reunions going on beside her and behind her -- huge groups of friends meeting after years of close-communication (whereas it was difficult for her to go online too often). She shook the thought away and shifted in her spot -- she could always make really strong friendships over the course of her journey! No rush, Feferi!
