Jane quickly jumped off of the Dragonite that had flown her from Route 10, tugging those pesky curls away from her face. She reached into her wallet and pulled out the fare she'd need and placed it in the pouch around its neck. When she stepped back, she watched it flap its wings and fly off. Riding dragons sure was cool! She'd recall the whole adventure, but it just happened so there was no point in replaying it.
Instead, she turned to face the Safari Zone. She recalled that Roxy once told her about the pokemon that were hidden there, and how it was a fun game to play when you had time to kill. Well, she had enough pokemon to take on the first gym leader back in Pewter, but killing another day wouldn't hurt.
She headed inside and payed her entry fee. They handed her a timer and 30 Safari balls as they explained the rules to her. She had a limited number of steps she could take, and when she either ran out of balls or steps, she'd be done with the game. Seemed easy enough to remember. She could toss bait or rocks at pokemon, as long as she didn't critically injure them as well. Nodding, they led her to the door and she thanked them as she began her search for the ever elusive Chansey. She didn't expect to catch one, but it never hurt to start with a goal in mind after all!
