Hometown : Lavender Town, Kanto

Appearance: Rose is a willowy girl with hair cropped into a short blond bob. Her face is typical of the Kanto region, with eyes and mouth creased by a dark sense of humour regarding her surroundings. Typically she wears a long fuchsia skirt tied with a sash similar to the dress of the Lavender Tower priestesses, and a black shirt emblazoned with a stylised lavender tentacool.

Biography: Rose lost her father at an early age to a brain tumour, and was brought up by her mother. While her mother at first relied on prayer and the condolences of the Lavender Town Priests and Priestesses, she eventually turned to alcohol as a coping mechanism. Due to this, relations between Rose and her mother are strained. When she was small, her mother attempted to fill the void left by her father’s death with extravagant presents, one of which happened to be a male Eeevee, now called Jaspers. Jaspers was Rose’s comfort and closest friend during her childhood, much more a domestic pet than a fighting pokemon. Rose has a love of psychology and would often spend long hours locked in her room, to weather some of her mothers more extravagant drunken spells, reading books on psychological theory aloud to Jaspers. When Rose began her journey as a trainer, the love Jasper felt for her ensured his evolution into an Umbreon very early on, and his previous time spent listening to psychological theory and method could be the reason he tends towards moves that mess with an opponents head.

Personality: Rose has a very jaded view of heroics and destiny. As she has experienced tragedy very early on in her life, she can often come across as cold and unfeeling. However, Rose does care deeply about her friends, and will lose her carefully constructed temper when they are threatened. When Rose does become angry, she is a terrifying force to be reckoned with, intent on total destruction of her enemies.

Goal: Rose prefers to support rather than take centre stage. Her goal is to ensure the safety of her friends, and also the safety of her mother despite the chilly silence that has grown between them.

In regards to the mod comments, Starter has been changed to Eevee - Umbreon (I didn't know Espeon was gone, and I don't actually use Umbreon myself often, but I put in a little thought and lore-wise it'd be a good choice for Rose, so have added some backstory)

Hey! I can't approve you just yet because the other mods haven't been around and we're all meant to mutually agree on applicants. sorry about the delay!

But I thought I'd better mention to you now that there are a couple of issues with your starter. First, they start at level five.

Also, we like to avoid characters having the same starter, and I'm afraid Aranea already has an Eevee, which she's planning on evolving into an Espeon. I can see that it's a good starter for Rose and I feel bad making you switch when you've obviously put a lot of thought into it, but yeah.

We'd be willing to make an exception on the two-Eevees thing if you were planning on evolving it into an Umbreon, though.

Other than that there aren't actually all that many cat-Pokemon left? Nepeta (Purrlion), Roxy (Skitty), Meulin (Shinx) and Meenah (Meowth) all have them, you see. Glameow could work as Jaspers, though?

I'm sorry, but I don't think we can accept this.

Rose lived a very privileged life in a mansion. Her biggest issue in her childhood was her mother's alcoholism, but even then Mom was still competent enough to hold down a job as a scientist and afford a mansion. Like a lot of teenagers, she got mad at her mom for mostly trivial/nonexistant reasons. (the only real reason being her mom's drinking.) At one point she even faked a suicide threat just to get back at her! I think it defeats the point of her character to create a new, tough life and then make that a significant part of her characterization. On top of that, this is a lighthearted, humorous AU. Unnecessarily tragic backstories don't really have a place here.

There doesn't seem to be much on her actual personality here, just how she's different in this AU. What is there seems to be alright, but I don't agree that she comes off as "cold and unfeeling".

Also, Rose admits to getting most of her information on psychology from Wikipedia. She mostly jokes about surface-level psychology, such as the outdated theories of Freud. You know, things you could find on the internet or in a high school level psychology class. She's by no means a self-taught academe on the subject.
