Main Character (Kid) Application
Name: Karkat Vantas
Starter Pokémon: Will Smith the Krabby
Hometown: Pallet Town
Appearance: Karkat is a bit shorter than most kids his age, standing at a hearty 5’2” (He is definitely not pleased by this, believing he’ll hit a huge growth spurt in a sweep or two). He is a normal weight for someone his size, not very muscly at all. One of his most noticeable features are the dark bags under his eyes due to sleeping problems.
Biography: Karkat grew up in Pallet Town, being raised by his crab lusus in a relatively normal manner for trolls. They got along relatively well, though it wasn’t hard for him to accidentally upset his guardian.
He attended the same trainer school in Viridian City that John did, the two oftentimes walking together between the two towns. Aside from John, he also had met several other people he deemed tolerable enough to talk to online, (and others who bother him regardless) and may even consider some of them his friends.
Personality: Grumpy. Rude. Loud. Angry. Livid. Jerk. Asshole. Douchemuffin.
People who don’t know Karkat too terribly well (hell, some people who do know him still think it) might judge him as any one of these words, because he tends to act a bit..abrasive towards others sometimes. Okay, he lashes at them on a regular basis. He dishes out insults like candy, and he doesn’t have a very high tolerance for shit from other people. His vocabulary is similar to that of a dictionary. A large, angry, articulate, scathing, vulgar dictionary. He will generally say whatever the fuck he wants whenever he wants to, and of course this can be rather off-putting to a lot of people.
What some people don’t always realize however is that underneath his layers and layers huffiness and general jackassery is someone who actually cares deeply about his friends. He just tends to show it through verbal abuse and other similar gestures instead of outright admitting his feelings. He doesn't want to be perceived as weak, and despite how confident and upright he acts he has the slight tendency to look down upon himself. Not that anyone really needs to know this, of course.
Karkat likes to believe he is a born leader, and might get a bit ornery if his traveling party doesn’t always agree with his decisions. He will try to whine and bitch until he gets his way, but if he doesn’t he will grudgingly go along with the others’ decisions (though that doesn’t mean he won’t constantly complain about it). He likes to think he’s the expert on battling (though he’s really about as good as everyone else) and will not hesitate on challenging someone, even if they are leagues above him.
As far as likes go, Karkat is incredibly fond of romcoms (both Alternian and Human varieties), and of romance films and novels in general. He will use any opportunity to divulge information on the subject to anyone who will listen, and is always open to giving romantic advice to anyone who may desire it.
Goal: Karkat wants to be the best trainer he can be. He wants to be able to train his Pokémon well, and he wants to attempt to tackle the toughest trainers in the region. He also wouldn’t mind being a breeder, often trying to play matchmaker for his and his friends’ Pokémon (whether it annoys them or not).
