In the cbox I see araida and dave jokingly fighting over the molty and while its very silly it does make me wonder LEGENDARIES what are we going to do about them I mean we could all see certain characters wanting some of the legendaries and sometimes they are part of the plot of the region (Assuming we get out of kanto...) but yes anyway some characters would probably fight over them for example Eridan and Feferi would likely want Kyorge being as it is like the master of the sea of some such? and John could want Rayqauza as it is a sky spirit? but so could tavros! anyway my point is What should happen for such powerful pokemon?

I doubt the legendaries are going to allow themselves to be caught. Because Legendaries are kept around to keep certain things in balance (such as time(Dialga), space(Palkia), various land forms(Regigigas and the Regis), weather(Rayquaza), etc) they kind of need to be kept out in the wild to keep tabs on pretty much everything around. I doubt they would even reveal themselves unless a trainer proved worth enough or they started fighting amongst themselves (ala Deoxys vs the world, Dialga vs Palkia, the bird trio vs Lugia, etc).
*Looks at the slowking he wanted* ...Eridan is so getting him a pair of pants. But still part of the plotlines is that they TEND to become unbalanced and fight with each other and things like the regis who dont seem to have any purpose other then some kind of warmachine thing dont seem like they would be as fickle ya know? anyway my point is the games DO allow you to catch them the anime as far as i know DOES feature them so it would be nice to get some kind of thing from the mods. Also Im stealing moltres from the two of you. :u
a) moltres is a dave pokemon b) i have to agree with aradia for the most part, i think the legendaries wouldn't let themselves get caught. some would definitely befriend some of the trainers etc etc but wouldn't get caught
Again I realize that they wouldnt let themselves get caught but some wouldnt be so fickle but at the same time it wouldnt be fair for some to have them and others not? as for a dave pokemon it was a joke. :U
Edit: Another thing I have questions about is this hidden ability stuff Im not quite sure how they work as there is something about a pokemon dream world but I understand pokemon do not normally HAVE these abilities? Are we free to choose from them? Alot of them look quite interesting. Im not trying to minmax however having a pokemon with a rare ability could be interesting.
Edit2: And what about TM/HMs? TMs in the game where mostly found along the ground and rarely sold in bigger cities or as casino prizes for the most useful ones sometimes a pokemons movepool isnt enough.
Also what about NPCS like the Pokemon professor whoever that is and pokedex's if we have them and shop keepers in case wares change as we do have multiple regions coming together here in the characters it might not be unreasonable for the game corner to have updated its prizes a little maybe containing evolution items or other rare items?

Befriending is probably as close as anyone is gonna get to the legendaries, and some of them may get into fights with one another (which can be a good plot later in the story) so, y'know, good ideas.
You typically obtain HMs from different NPCs in the world. I suspect that in each city there might be a vendor selling HMs that you cannot use outside of battle until you obtain the badge from that particular gym. Some Pokemon can learn certain HM moves, some cannot. They work exactly like TMs in that you teach it to them via the CD device. The only way you teach the move in the CD device is... putting it on their forehead? (see: firered and leafgreen animations)
EDIT: It might not really be such a bad idea to have one person be SOLELY the NPC player and/or the Wild Pokemon player. They could bring out a Pokemon and the battle could commence until it was either defeated or captured, in which trainers get to decide what kind of Pokemon it is (nature, ability(if it was not acted upon in battle), etc.).
EDIT2: Most PokeMarts should probably have a bigger selection of TMs, since the whole basis of THAT was to find them on your own. It would be nice to find at least a small selection of them in most towns and cities, at least until you hit a Department Store.
A. No legendaries will be caught! But they can be met, befriended, etc. And possibly they will become integral to a plot or somthing. B. I don't think John and I would mind playing wild pokemon or NPCs, but I figured we would keep the technical semantics to a minimum and only RP by common sense. What are your guys' feelings on that? C. If you look on bulbapedia, it will tell you the secret/hidden/special ability that a particular pokemon has. And so, your pokemon can have that ability, and you can use it in battle if you want. D. I don't want to make the RP semantics too complex or contrived, because they get complicated, and then everyone gets confused, but if you guys want to make it more complex rather than depending on common sense and winging it, I would be up for concocting some kind of system that works. E. For example, and I dunno if you guys want this, we can have a shop/vendor thread or board of sorts and you can get IC money from posting and winning battles. It would actually not be that hard to pull off, but a lot of times people dislike complex stuff like that. So it would really be up to the majority of players.
Well i meant like the dream world stuff which i dont really understand as i never played that generation. Also I wonder how we will do trainer battles and stats...
eridork you're making it a little too complicated by bringing in stats and stuff and i would assume that random trainers could just be played by the person fighting them, and they could just write a description of the whole battle
Not trying to make it complex but I meant battles against another player i mean thats part of the damage calumniation? We would want them to be fair and we would have to face each other SOONER or later also who goes first etc.

USUALLY on Pokemon sites, to even out fights, players just decide between themselves who deserves to win, for whatever reason. With a mature userbase (which I would hope we have here!) this is usually no problem -- people are usually up to admitting that they've been beaten.
However, with a younger, larger, or less mature base, sites will bring in a mod after a set amount of posts (usually two or three per competitor -- so four or six) and will "judge" the fight and award the winner.
A system I've seen on a lot of Pokemon sites is "two moves per turn" -- so either an attack and a dodge, a dodge and a dodge or and attack and an attack -- to keep down barrages. Also, typically you'll have a "no more than three dodge per fight rule" -- to keep things simple.
Karkat, I like all those things you posted. I, too, am adverse to people actually getting legendaries (I'm even iffy on "rare" Pokemon for everyone -- stuff like Dragonite and shit -- but that's just my control-freak nature probably), and in most cases it just causes trouble.
And yes, shops, please!
In terms of leveling pokemon, how are we to handle that? If you have no ideas, I have a system from an old site that worked very well and just demanded a sort of up-keep once in a while, as opposed to all the time (like being awarded levels by a mod with a random number generators).
Half the fun is rares somewhat I mean eveeves are rare as for deciding who deserves to win that doesnt seem like that great an idea here i mean they are pokemon with a set hp number maybe thats just my running with a larger younger crowd but i always preferred the dice roll method letting lady luck (Who isnt you vrishit) decide if a attack hits or misses i mean there are also things like trick room and nasty plot which have special effects! Hell I know proboards has its OWN dice rolling system then again i just like things being a bit more unpredictable. OR! We could decide on player vs player on a online battling thing. Which could be cool seeing all the moves and stuff.

You see, that sounds all nice and such in theory, but it ends up hindering progress in roleplays because, surprise surprise, playing with probabilities and dice and shit is just tedious. And I won't even bring up stats because that is way too complicated for a cross-over site.
I've never witnessed problems with people doing stuff with common sense, and every Pokemon site I've been on has used that as the basis, with a few rules like:
one - Don't be a loser and GM/PP. You know, autohit, taking control of other people's Pokemon, try and kill trainers with Pokemon, setting up a gigantic magnificent bastard asspull in order to make sure you win - common sense, guys, common sense.
and
three - We on [site] don't care how you use a move as long as it makes logical sense. For instance, if you use Psychic, you are not confined to simply blasting with Psychic energy and such. You are given freedom to do as you wish. Make battles, once again, entertaining, creative, and enjoyable, guys. Don't make them chores.
On a similar note, don't bother with percentages. If it hits, it hits. Honestly. Also, status effects do have some significance, but it's up to the receiving end if they actually become inflicted or not. However, if you take a Will-O-Wisp directly and don't get burned, you are colossally stupid.
(shamelessly copied from some battle rules i had typed up from an old site omg)
--
I mean, usually you can trust people? And it keeps battles fun and action-packed! Percentages and stuff just make battles difficult and needlessly dull, in my opinion.
The more complicated you make battles, the less fun they become, and the less people want to play 'em. 8U
I dont think just yet i mean I think we should let there be a discussion first. Also to wait for john to get back so she can weigh in as shes also a admin
