Make sure you have read all of these before you apply here! Make sure this is the right roleplay for you.
These rules are subject to change, so do check the anouncements for any changes.
General rules
- Act how you want people to treat you. Try and keep the drama to an absolute minimum! If you get into a scuffle, deal with it through PMs or contact a moderator. Also, never participate in spam or flame threads; simply contact a moderator through the report button ASAP!
- Respect each other and be courteous! Critique is fine if they give the okay, but no outright insulting each other’s roleplaying skills.
- Shipshaming and kinkshaming will not be tolerated either. You're allowed to talk about things you don't like, so long as you don't make others feel bad if they do like certain things! There's a fine line between giving your opinion, and being a dick. Try and stay on the right side of that line!
- Keep double posts down to a minimum. Our forum gods created the edit button for a reason!
- Everything posted must be Safe For Work! Anything posted within Homestuck is SFW. If you're not sure what you're posting is SFW or not, don't post it without a mod checking it over or just don't post it at all.
- Swearing is allowed, obviously. After all, there are plenty of Homestuck characters with potty mouths.
- Please, if you post anything that could be considered a trigger, post a warning for it first! Common triggers include suicide or suicidal thoughts, gore, and anything else that goes to such an extreme that people could be having panic attacks. Just don't do it.
- Have fun! When in doubt use common sense and don’t take everything too seriously.
Cbox Rules
- Most of the General Rules still apply. However, the cbox is unaffiliated with proboards, so there are a few minor differences.
- Primarily, we're a little more lenient about NSFW stuff in the cbox, but don't get out of hand. If you want to link to something NSFW post a warning next to your link.
- If possible, please register your name and add an avatar. It just looks neater that way! If the character name is taken, ask an admin to free it up for you.
- Don't flood the box! When it's busy, try to make sure people can keep up with your posts.
- Discuss what you like, but try to be inclusive! Don't ignore other people in the box or leave people out.
- Debating and disagreeing is fine, but don't let arguments here get out of hand. If somebody is giving you problems, don't encourage them. Stay out of the box, and contact a staff member about it.
Roleplaying Rules
- Attempt to remain active. This is rule number 1! Being active means posting at least once per week, or at least letting us know you're about via the cbox. If you are going to be inactive for more than two weeks, contact a moderator and inform them of what's going on, or post in the (Absences Thread) and you should get a pass for as long as you need to (within reason).
- We do activity checks every fortnight, and if you haven't been seen in a while you'll be sent an email. If there's no response, your character will be given to another person who may want to pick up the one you currently have.
- Shipping is alright, just as long as you ask the other player. Forcing ships on anyone is bound to get you a warning. Shipping can be discussed on the shipping wall thread. No shippresuring one of the most important rules here.
- For now, there will be one main character per roleplayer, as that is all we need. You can also take on a Ancestor/Midnight Crew member as a secondary character. (You might be able to take on more than one secondary character, depending on how popular they are, and how active you are.)
- Godmodding is not allowed in any way, shape, or form. It is where you glorify your character and make them impossible to defeat, and also where you control other characters without their permission. If you're going to do something drastic, ask the other roleplayer before you act upon it.
- For specific NPCs and Pokemon that the character in question owns, however, there will be a bit of leniency in that someone can control that NPC.
- You can make things dark if you like. Seriously injuring and even killing off Pokemon is acceptable so long as the trainer in question gives the okay. But for goodness sake, no permanently killing off characters!
- No smut on the boards, please! It could get us into serious trouble.
- Keep within canon grounds. This is an AU, yes, but the canon characters' personalities stay relatively the same. Karkat doesn't say fuck every ten seconds, Gamzee isn't a super cool seme, John isn't a super moe uke, etc. Be reasonable with how you characterize your character!
- The main 34 kids (alpha and beta kids, 24 trolls, 2 cherubs) may be chosen as specific main characters. We have a (Character List) to keep track of who is roleplaying whom. Other characters may be added to the character rooster once we know more about them in canon.
- Be reasonable about the Pokemon catching. A trainer can only catch so much before he just loses track of all his Pokemon. The number to stop at is around 12-16 Pokemon. On that note, trainers may release their Pokemon after catching them, such as after they get off of crutch Pokemon at the beginning of their journey.
- Wild Pokemon are played by the "Wild Pokemon Mod"! Please do not try to play them yourself. Post in the (Wild Pokemon Request Thread) if you would like a Wild Pokemon encounter. A mod will get in there ASAP.
- Direct any further enquiries to the (Questions Thread/FAQ).
- If you're looking for terms for battling on the site, they can be found on the (Battle Rules) page!. Alternately, if you're looking for contest details, those can be found on (Contest Information).
